METeorological Aerodrome Reports (METAR) contain the aviation weather as observed at over 4000 airports worldwide. This module reads the most recently published information to you directly from the NOAA website.
A typical report will include the following information:
- Time of report
- Wind direction & speed
- Cloud type and heights
- Air temperature
- Dew Point
- Air pressure at the airfield
There are a couple of subcommands that can be used once ModuleMetarInfo has been activated (4#). Don’t forget to send a hash (#) after each command.
- 0 – Play the help message
- 01 – List all preconfigured airports
- 1 – Bournemouth (EGHH)
- 2 – Boscombe Down (EGDM)
- 3 – Yeovilton (EGDY)
- 4 – Heathrow (EGLL)
- 5 – Amundsen-Scott South Pole (NZSP)
METAR information can be read even if the MetarInfo module is not active. Just send 4n# (where n is the number of the preconfigured airport) and the relevant information will be read.
Searching for Airports by ICAO code
The search commands are currently being checked. If you would like any airports added to the preconfigured list, please let Alex (M1LXM) or Rich (G0ZEP) know.
To exit the module transmit a single hash (#) although it will automatically deactivate after 30 seconds of not being used.
